The Comedy of Errors Easiest to Read Edition edition by William Shakespeare Robert Jackson Literature Fiction eBooks
As someone who is reading Shakespeare for the second time at the age of 40 and who considers himself a careful reader, I am always surprised to find the Oxford editors bring new ways of looking at the plays. In this introduction, Whitworth does a commendable job of explaining the importance of The Comedy of Errors which is usually dismissed as light weight farce, by explaining the history of critiism of the play and it social relevance.Presented as a Christmas entertainment for the queen, The Comedy cleverly combines plots from two Plautus plays as well as introducing plot elements of his own.
I-- a mere mortal-- have no ability to criticize Shakespeares truly immortal genious. As the best writer ever, all I can do is enjoy the work. The scholarly intro allows you to heighten the pleasure seeing thing that might not be seen at surface level.
An additional benefit of the Oxford Shakespeare is that it is annotated with just enough notes-- on the same page as the text.
If you read Shakespeare for enjoyment or for a class, Oxford is the best.

The Comedy of Errors Easiest to Read Edition edition by William Shakespeare Robert Jackson Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
One of Shakespeare's funniest plays made accessable by a fantastic cast! Great for a long commute.
This is a well-illustrated book which captures the Shakespeare's humor. I enjoyed reading it with my kids, in preparation for taking them to see the play. But the book is extremely abridged, so if you don't know the whole store, there are parts of it don't make sense.
Excellent!
This edition benefits from the editor's extensive knowledge of the Shakespeare canon, especially in the 50 pages of the technical introduction, in the footnotes to the text, and in the appendices that deal with performance history. Highly recommended.
This book is golden! The cut of the play gives the feel of the entire work and all of the suggestions on staging and props are right on for a middle-high school production of the play. I can't wait to do another play from the series next year.
It came and it was great! It is perfect for going over lines or just to read some Shakespeare!
Includes a wonderful introduction to reading Shakespeare, e.g., word order, apostrophes, and verse/prose. Plus detailed guidance specific to Comedy of Errors, e.g., stage direction, motifs & themes, and map/history. The size, font, format/page layout, print and paper quality make this book a true joy to read, along with the fantanstic line by line annotations and comments.
